PaneLED

The subway, live, on your desk

PaneLED is a small display of New York City subway service. Ten clear acrylic panes stand one behind the other, each lit from below in its lines’ colours, and a pane turns red when its lines are delayed.

I’ll make it myself It’s open source. This takes you to the build files on GitHub.

Only the count is kept: no email, no name, no ads or analytics. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you’re a person. Your browser keeps a random ticket so you can change your answer, and a scrambled code made from your connection stops repeat votes and is deleted at the end of the day.

Why I’m asking

Parts for this project are expensive in small quantities. Your answer tells me what people would actually want, and which parts I should source.

About the map

The MTA owns the rights to the New York City subway map’s design, including trademarks, so a PaneLED you can buy may not show the map exactly as it appears in photos and videos. PaneLED isn’t affiliated with the MTA.
